Samplings
Samplings is a digital exploratory space for sharing work-in-progress research projects, ever-growing collections of thought fragments and resources by the Singapore Art Museum’s curators, artists-in-residence and collaborators. Named after a musical process of reworking existing material into new formats, this space embraces conceptual mess and change. The site’s content is multiplicitous, reflecting the particular and evolving interests of its contributors.
We invite all users to respond by commenting on posts and suggesting thematic tags. Through this community generative effort, we hope to draw connections between seemingly parallel/divergent streams of thought, inspire conversations/action and propel projects towards resolution.
This joint initiative by the Singapore Art Museum and National Gallery Singapore was first launched in February 2024 to expand the possibilities of creative and curatorial labour, and to recognise that not all research is complete, stable and formalised. In the spirit of our vision—active dialogue, discovery and collaboration—we respect and encourage the expression of diverse views, thoughts and opinions from all our contributors.
