The image shows a small packet of Nasi Lemak, which was lovingly made by Pakcik Minhad’s wife. She prepared a massive batch for a celebration that she so warmly welcomed us to be apart of as Shooshie’s guests.
Apparently Makcik Minhad used to sell this outside from their home in Merlimau, but has since ceased operations. This is one of the greatest losses to anyone who enjoys a good Nasi Lemak. It is very likely the best in Singapore and Malaysia (a statement which we have since continued to search for foils but have not yet found anything that comes close)
It represents, in part, the way food is able to hold and convey love, kindness and joy where common language is not available, but it also speaks to the hospitality and warmth that was always shared with us, which we encountered through countless shared meals through out the Fellowship:
